The mission of the Bas van de Goor Foundation (BvdGF) is to enhance the quality of life of people with diabetes through sports. That's why we organize several events for people with diabetes. On two of those events we did research.
Kilimanjaro Diabetes Challenge 2008
In 2008 a group of 8 people with diabetes mellitus type 1 climbed the Mount Kilimanjaro (5.895 m) in Tanzania. The highest mountain of Africa. Supported by a medical and research team the group accomplished this big achievement. Before, during and after the climb research is done to check the influence of high altitude on diabetes mellitus type 1. You find here more about the results.
